There are lots of different types of CCTV (closed circuit television) and surveillance camera systems on the market today. There are wireless cameras that can be controlled by your computer over the internet. You can see what is happening at home via a computer connected to the internet from anywhere in the world. You can also get a camera for your front door which activates when someone approaches, save yourself the hassle of getting rid of an annoying sales person or neighbour! The last thing a criminal wants is the possibility of being filmed whilst approaching you premises.
Wireless Security Cameras
Easy to install, simply place the camera where needed and tune your television into the correct channel and off you go. The quickest and easiest solution to get you started and more importantly your first step to making you and your property safer. You can easily move the cameras around to suit your needs, unlike the hassle that would be involved with a wired solution. You also don't have wires all over the place. The cameras themselves come in many sizes and can give you the option to put them in places where a large r one can't go. Make sure you put them out of easy reach and where they can't be tampered with easily.
Surveillance Cameras
Relatively easy to install depending on where you want to put them and very reasonably priced. Now more than ever surveillance cameras can be easily and cheaply purchased over the internet at a fraction of the cost of what companies used to pay for them. Usually more robust than wireless security cameras and you do not need to worry about batteries as the power is supplied to the cameras via the cable.
Infrared Cameras or Low Lux Rated Cameras
Infrared and cameras with a good lux rating are ideal for night time viewing. The infrared cameras will work in darkness and the low lux cameras will work in areas of low lighting but not complete darkness. Make sure that you buy the correct camera for the area you wish to be covered. A low lux camera could be a good solution if you have security lighting already. Have a look at some of the examples of the quality of the cameras on manufacturers web sites.
Security Cameras Options
You can also get domes for camera, similar to the ones you see in shops to watch for shop lifters. These prevent anyone knowing what direction the security camera is facing. As in most things the more you pay the more options and features you get.
